About the role

We areseeking either a Psychologist or an Occupational Therapist to join ourpatient-centred and collaborative multidisciplinary team within our PaediatricChronic Pain Service!

The ChronicPain Service (CPS) is an interdisciplinary team consisting of Physicians,Psychologists (including Clinical and Health Psychologists) andPhysiotherapists.

As aPsychologist, you will be responsible for the development, coordination, andimplementation of high quality psychological and therapeutic services tochildren referred to the Paediatric Chronic Pain Service at WCHN. The servicesmay be provided to inpatients or outpatients, and via consultation to othercommunity services

As anOccupational Therapist, you will conduct assessments, design and implementintervention programmes, and provide therapy services to individuals and theirfamilies. The Occupational Therapist will provide predominantly to outpatients,with a limited amount provided to inpatients, and may be provided as individualor group therapy.

Key duties of the role

* Provision of high quality, specialist mental health, psychologicaland systemic therapeutic services to children and young people with chronicpain and complex rehabilitation needs, and their families, who are eligible forservices through the Paediatric Chronic Pain Service, WCHN.
* Use professional knowledge and skill to manage complex patientreferrals.
* Provide expert advice on complex cases to clinicians, staff andexternal partners
* Contribute to the inter-disciplinary team and delivering holisticcare
* Contribute to the ongoing development, improvement, andadvancement of psychological services within Paediatric Chronic Pain Service.

Occupational Therapist

* Hold a direct clinical caseload and implementing occupationaltherapy assessments and interventions for management of chronic pain
* Use professional knowledge and skill to manage complex patientreferrals.
* Lead development, implementation and evaluation of occupationaltherapy services associated with the Paediatric Chronic Pain Service.
* Incorporate relevant evidence and/or accepted best practice inmethods and techniques.

Skills and Experience

* Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification and generalregistration with Psychology Board of Australia within an endorsed area ofpractice.
* Experience in conducting psychological assessment and interventionwith children, young people, and families
* Demonstrated ability to apply specialised skills in analysingcomplex clinical problems.
* Demonstrated leadership and co-ordination experience in a relatedarea.

Occupational Therapist

* Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification and registration asan Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
* Specialist experience in occupational therapy assessments andinterventions in the paediatric area.
* Experience in the occupational therapy management of patients withchronic conditions or functional disability and complex needs.
* Evidence-based clinical knowledge to enable safe and effectiveoccupational therapy management of young people with complex chronicconditions.
