In this hands-on leadership position, you will oversee day-to-day restaurant operations, ensuring outstanding customer service, food quality, and workplace safety. Retail Supervisor: Role OverviewAs a Retail Supervisor at Subway, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the daily operations and overall atmosphere of the restaurant. Your leadership will ensure team members are motivated, customers receive top-tier service, and the workplace remains compliant, efficient, and welcoming. The following comprehensive duties outline your primary areas of responsibility.
* Organize and prepare weekly staff schedules, ensuring each shift is fully staffed and roles are clearly assigned; make real-time adjustments to accommodate changing business needs.
* Interview, hire, and onboard new team members, providing hands-on training and ongoing mentorship to foster professional growth and maintain high standards.
* Train employees through challenging customer interactions or complex transactions, offering guidance and support to promote adherence to company policies and a positive work culture.
* Monitor and evaluate staff performance, delivering constructive feedback, recognizing achievements, and addressing disciplinary issues or disputes as needed.
* Deliver prompt, attentive service by actively engaging with customers, resolving complaints or concerns efficiently, and ensuring food and beverages consistently meet quality standards.
* Supervise food preparation and presentation, making certain that every product aligns with brand, safety, and quality benchmarks.
* Oversee cash handling, daily sales reconciliation, and banking procedures, upholding accuracy and security in all financial transactions.
* Maintain optimal inventory levels by conducting regular stock checks, placing timely orders, and monitoring usage to reduce waste and prevent shortages or excess.
* Ensure products are accurately priced, clearly labelled, and attractively displayed, aligning with current promotions and sales initiatives.
* Inspect returned items and determine the best course of action—such as issuing refunds, exchanges, or repairs—according to company guidelines.
* Maintain workplace safety by enforcing health, sanitation, and security protocols; regularly review compliance to protect both customers and staff.
* Lead the team in maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting restaurant environment, addressing issues immediately to uphold brand reputation.
* Support the execution of marketing campaigns and promotional activities, actively informing and encouraging staff to participate and promote offers to customers.
Key Selection Criteria
* Previous experience in a supervisory role within retail or hospitality, preferably in a fast-food or quick-service environment.
* Demonstrated leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team.
* Knowledge of food safety standards and workplace health and safety regulations.
* Strong customer service orientation and effective problem-solving skills.
* Proven competence in cash handling and basic financial procedures.
* Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Certificate III or IV in Retail, Hospitality, or a related discipline (desirable).
* Prior supervisory experience in a similar environment.
* Possession of, or willingness to obtain, a Food Safety Supervisor certification.
Salary: $75,000–$90,000 per annum
