The Opportunity 
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Cost Controller to join our Brisbane team to support the successful delivery of our multi-discipline, Greenfield and Brownfield projects. This role will see you collaborating closely with our project and finance teams, to ensure effective cost management throughout the life of all our client projects. 
Responsibilities: 
- Control cost activities, including forecast to complete/forecast at completion analysis, trending, change management, accruals, cost variance analysis, commitment reviews, earned value, and progress measurement. 
- Monitor expenditure and report project costs against control budgets to ensure purchase order alignment. 
- Management of project creation and set up in the cost management system. 
- Support the development of project-specific deliverables, including comprehensive project services, progress reporting, risk management, and capital cost estimates. 
- Track and analyze project costs, including expenditures, budgets, and forecasts, to ensure alignment with project objectives and financial targets. 
- Identify variances and potential cost overruns and recommend corrective action when necessary. 
- Preparation of project reports covering cost, earned value, and variance analysis to agreed project reporting cycles. 
- Timesheet administration support to ensure accurately reported project labor costs. 
- Review contracts to ensure adherence to financial/commercial terms and conditions. 
- Management of project commercial activities, including generation of prebills, billing maintenance, and invoice generation to ensure correct cost allocation over tasks and budgets. 
- Review and evaluate contractor and supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project budgets. 
- Analyze cost data and trends to identify areas for cost-saving opportunities and efficiency enhancements. 
- Training, developing, and mentoring less experienced project controls team members. 
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. 
The Ideal Candidate: 
- Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field is desirable. 
- 8+ years of cost control experience in the successful delivery of projects across multiple clients and stakeholders, in the mining, minerals processing, construction, or similar heavy industries. 
- Sound knowledge of scheduling and cost controls systems, with experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 and PowerBI being favorable. 
- Proven project delivery experience delivering multiple projects of various size and complexity in both brownfield and greenfield delivery environments is favorable. 
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite software skills, with advanced Excel capability. 
- Solid understanding of project management principles, cost accounting principles, and financial analysis techniques. 
- Knowledge of cost and scheduled Quantitative and Qualitative Risk Analysis process 
- Strong commercial background and understanding to support the management of project finances, ensuring projects are delivered to the target profit. 
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex data and identify trends. 
- Self-motivated and decisive, adaptable to change and competing demands. 
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the capability of engaging and influencing stakeholders at all organizational levels.
