About the role:
We have a permanent opportunity for an adaptable, resilient professional to provide leadership at the Manning Hospital to the acute response for patients experiencing violence, abuse and neglect.

You will join a supportive team of hospital Social Workers and a dynamic Violence, Abuse and Neglect clinical network providing you with local, clinical and strategic support in the fulfilment of your role. You will be supported and encouraged to develop and apply creative strategies and solutions to complex patient presentations. You will develop constructive and robust relationships with your local medical, nursing and allied health colleagues in the Emergency Department and Children Wards to strengthen the hospital response and quality of service provided to people presenting to the hospital who are experiencing domestic and family violence or child protection concerns.

About you:
We are looking for someone who is committed to improving outcomes for patients who have experienced complex trauma and who is able to work collaboratively to ensure a trauma-informed service response. You will be courageous, resilient and motivated in regards to advocating for the needs of patients and their families through the hospital journey and working alongside medical and nursing staff to ensure that risk and safety issues for patients in the context of family violence and child protection are comprehensively managed and addressed. You will enjoy working with multidisciplinary settings and contributing to the social work perspective in the multidisciplinary response, ensuring that patients are supported through the health system and beyond their discharge from hospital.

Requirements:

- Must hold as a minimum a Bachelor Degree in Social Work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and a minimum of three full years of postgraduate experience.
- Ability to participate in the after hours VAN Crisis Service at Manning Base Hospital and on a 7 day rotating Social Work Department roster, including afternoon shifts.
