About the role

The Senior Sports Physiotherapist is responsible for developing and delivering world-class, evidence-based physiotherapy services focused on the rehabilitation and prevention of injury and illness in both able-bodied and para-athletes. The role drives proactive, high-performance health outcomes through best-practice clinical care, innovation, and collaboration within the performance team.

As a senior member of the Performance Health team, this role includes mentoring and supporting other physiotherapists to strengthen their technical skills and their understanding of the Australian high-performance system. The Senior Sports Physiotherapist leads by example, fostering excellence, professionalism, and a culture of continual learning to ensure NSWIS remains at the forefront of athlete health and performance.

This is a full time position, attracting a salary starting at $129,043 pa plus superannuation. The contract period for this role is up to 31 December 2028 in line with the Olympic / Paralympic cycle.

This is an identified position requiring a Working with Children Check.

About you

You are a collaborative and proactive professional who thrives in a high-performance environment. You communicate clearly, build trust across disciplines, and lead by example. You're adaptable, organised, and driven to continually improve yourself and those around you.

Essential requirements:

* Current registration as a Physiotherapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Minimum of 8 years' clinical experience, including at least 5 years working in sports physiotherapy at a national or international level.
* Demonstrated expertise in rehabilitation and injury prevention within high-performance sport.
* Proven ability to design, implement, and manage complex return-to-play programs in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
* Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to build effective relationships across coaches, athletes, and performance staff.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining contemporary, evidence-based practice.
* Willingness to travel and work flexible hours to meet the demands of high-performance sport.
