Sky operates in UK & Ireland, Italy, Germany, Austria & Switzerland. This is a UK-based role within the Consumer Engagement team, working as part of a cross-functional PR and Social team. This brand new role is designed to create strategic and operational focus around our UK editorial output and earned-media coverage for all of Sky's content, both Original TV series, acquisitions from major studios and partners like HBO and Showtime and the full range of film content on Sky Cinema. We are looking for a highly motivated, senior leader who is bursting with ideas and skills to transform how we work with editorial media outlets across the full range of online, digital, broadcast and print. What you'll do:
- Work closely with Group Director of Comms, Content to develop brand new Editorial and over-arching media relations strategy for Content PR team, to include an always[1]on, 'range' comms approach to ensure Sky's best content across new title launches and library gets category-leading coverage across editorial media outlets.
- Have a strong vision for best-in class editorial and news coverage for Sky's Content and will have the flexibility in your style to both drive forward a new strategy and also get into the detail to operationalise it on a day-to-day basis. We are looking for someone who can both come up with the theory but also put it into practice, and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves to get things done.
- Take overall ownership for how our content shows up editorially in both words and imagery and will work closely with a diverse mix of teams from across the business including content/programming, Sky Studios, Sky marketing along with colleagues within wider PR, Social and influencer teams. As part of this, in this role you will oversee a 7-strong Visual Assets team who commission and create original imagery to support our publicity efforts, along with a team of 2 writers/publicists.
- Build capabilities within the business around digital platform algorithms - ideally arising from experience working at a digital news platform, with the aim of improving our digital media coverage and ensure it is achieves optimum placement and reach on online outlets.
- Be responsible for the development of relationships with a more diverse range of media contacts including digital platform editors and social media editors with the ambition of improving our social media coverage via third party news outlets.
- Build strong relationships with the Sky social team, both newsroom and campaign delivery teams, to ensure we are working together effectively for maximum impact across our owned platforms and the earned/borrowed digital space.
- Take responsibility for our overall 'range' content strategy, ensuring we secure greater (and measurable) share of voice for Sky content in the overall editorial space available to us. This includes a new approach for library content beyond new title releases, how we might promote franchises (TV & film) and thematic content based on the news agenda or calendar moments.
- End-to-end oversight of the way in which we engage with listings media and share regular programming highlights with key publications, and oversight of our screeners platform Sky Media Village. You will also have responsibility for our monthly content highlights slate and seasonal content slate reveals (eg Autumn, Christmas, New Year) and will be charged with maximising Sky presence and brand attribution.
- Develop a clear measurement and reporting framework to demonstrate impact of your and your team's work, and value to business.
- In time, be a part of rolling out new initiatives and approaches to the wider Sky Group including Italy and Germany
