Orthopaedic Surgeon - Upper Limb - Department of Surgery – Wollongong Hospital - 2 x Visiting Medical Officer Positions Available up to 426 hours annually – Temporary Until 30 June 2027
Join the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District as an Upper Limb Orthopaedic Surgeon and play a vital role in delivering expert surgical care, trauma services, and teaching across Wollongong and Shellharbour Hospitals.

This role will provide expert medical assessment and management of patients within the Orthopaedic Service at ISLHD. The positions are based primarily at The Wollongong and Shellharbour Hospitals. Each Surgeon will be expected to provide a regular elective orthopaedic list, trauma list and orthopaedic outpatient clinics (including fracture clinics). Equal participation on the Orthopaedic/ Trauma On Call roster (expected to be a minimum of 1 in 12) will be required for all surgeons. Provision of high quality teaching and supervision to the junior medical staff is an important component of this role, along with participation in departmental meetings and clinical governance activities. The successful applicant will possess or be working towards gaining subspecialty training in the field of Orthopaedic Upper Limb Surgery. The position will be primarily located at Wollongong Hospital and Shellharbour Hospital but may be varied as agreed with the Director of Clinical Services and as approved by the Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC) to other facilities in ISLHD.
Wollongong Hospital, located on Dharawal Country, is the Illawarra Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed-base count of more than 500.
