Role Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Associate Deputy Principal for stage 3 in our primary school.
Key Responsibilities:
The College is seeking applications for a stage 3 Associate Deputy Principal position commencing in term 1, 2025. The successful applicant will report to the school principal.
The Associate Deputy Principal is responsible for ensuring that best teaching practices are adhered to and that both teachers and students are supplied with the most appropriate strategies and resources to achieve their fullest potential. This includes informing staff of current proven methods, implementing all aspects of the college policies & supporting primary teachers in their own implementation of this policy in class. The Associate Deputy Principal will work closely with the college principal and the stage 3 teachers to follow through on policy and procedures and work with staff to enhance their skills and knowledge. Additionally, they will;
* Lead and work with stage 3 teachers to support teachers in meeting the AISTL National Professional Standards for Teachers.
* Encourage initiatives in teaching, learning and technology that effectively support strategic priorities.
* Ensure that every teacher understands that their job is to work toward the mission and goals of the College by identifying and working on closing the inevitable gaps between mission and reality and between desired learning outcomes and actual student performance.
* Exercise collaborative and consultative leadership in developing outstanding teaching and learning practice whereby all students, including those with particular learning needs make the required progress and maximise their potential in line with the College's expectations.
* Coordinate the induction of new and casual stage 3 teaching staff.
* Affirm, encourage, support, guide and advise staff.
* Support the college principal in providing assistance and professional advice to teachers to improve their skills and implement best practices.
* Assist as required in the appraisal of teaching strategies and student engagement, through both formal and informal means and provide helpful feedback to enhance staff effectiveness.
* Carry out regular learning walks, lesson observations and give detailed feedback to teachers, keeping this information secure and updated as necessary.
* Follow up on how staff have improved and developed via suggestions given during teacher observation and assess their success and level of implementation.
* Provide regular professional development sessions for stage 3 teachers on accreditation and teaching strategies.
* Identify and develop structures to enhance a culture of learning which supports analysis, research and improved student performance.
* In conjunction with the college principal, proactively assist teachers to keep abreast of current information about teaching and learning.
* Support the development of the college as a learning organisation for both staff and students, where quality teaching and learning contributes immensely to high achievement and engagement for all involved.
* Support the college principal in creating and embedding a culture that enables all students to maximise their achievements across the spectrum of school life.
* Identify and implement evidence-based, authentic pedagogy across stage 3.
* Manage teacher accreditation, generate reports and related documents, keeping all paperwork secure for appraisal by NESA, with adherence to important dates and deadlines pre-submission.
* Monitor teaching and learning activities and plan and implement effective mentoring practices to ensure the needs of all students are met.
* Ensure all stage 3 teachers have identified syllabus outcomes that most effectively provide evidence of students' understanding and demonstrate their ability to apply the learning.
* Support teachers to develop reflective practices and to actively evaluate the impact of their teaching (and teaching styles) on different groups of students.
* Develop further the established climate for learning in teams and support the notion that all teachers are also learners.
* Collect and interpret specialist data gathered on students to inform practice. Support developments and initiatives to improve standards in English and Mathematics as well as access to the wider curriculum.
* Assist with updating relevant sections of college policies related to teaching and learning.
* Act on additional directives from the primary deputy principal and principal as required.
Key Selection Criteria:
* Experience in working in complex stakeholder environments.
* Demonstrated leadership experience with a minimum of 3-5 years as a full time teacher.
* Can work under pressure in complex environment.
* Relevant, Australian recognised teaching qualification/degree.
