Primary objective
To assist with the provision of Information Communication and Technology services to the staff and families in relation to the
delivery of distance education. Hands on implementation for set up of equipment and troubleshooting advice to ensure continuous
reliable Interface Definition Language (IDL) connections to studios and home classrooms.
Context statement
Alice Springs School of the Air is a distance education school with a student population of approximately 100 students located
remotely across the Alice Springs and Barkly regions of the NT, the northern region of SA and far western region of Qld. The school
is based in Alice Springs. The vision of the ASSOA community is 'Inspiring isolated students to recognise and pursue their potential'.
The school's culture is characterised by the provision of high levels of education support, achieved through close professional
working relationships with students, families, and home tutors.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provision of ICT services including the maintenance and installation of hardware and software associated with the delivery of
live lessons in an online environment. Provision of specialist support and troubleshooting for families and tutors based remotely.
2. Assist in maintaining the school network, computers and other IT devices, and facilitate ICT training for staff and families.
3. Liaise with DET Information Services and ICT contract staff.
4. Undertake general administrative and site maintenance tasks as directed by the Principal.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Appropriate level of experience and ability to troubleshoot and resolve computer, network and ICT issues, relevant within an
educational and distance education context.
2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with information technology systems and software packages including MS Office
suite, Google Workspace, Zoom or equivalent, Website and SQL Database management (FileMaker) and the ability to obtain
specific skills in a timely manner.
1. Demonstrated organisational skills, including a demonstrated capacity to work under pressure and deliver outcomes in a timely
and efficient manner.
1. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, families and the wider school
community.
1. Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultures.
2. A current Northern Territory driver's license and Working with Children Clearance Notice or the ability to obtain.
Desirable
1. Formal education to Year 12 or qualification in Information Communication and Technology related area.
2. Experience and skill in the use of ICT in distance education.
3. First Aid Certificate
