Senior Finance Manager Cairns - Lead, Transform, Grow
Your new company
Hays Cairns has partnered with a leading aviation services provider to recruit a Senior Finance Manager for their Cairns operations. This organisation operates across multiple Australian sites and is part of a global group renowned for its technical excellence, innovation, and commitment to growth. With a strong presence in Cairns, Brisbane, and Sydney, the business is entering an exciting phase of expansion and transformation, offering a unique chance for a finance leader to make a significant impact.
Your new role
As the Senior Finance Manager, you will oversee financial operations across three key Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) sites located in Cairns, Brisbane, and Sydney. Based in Cairns, you will play a critical leadership role in managing compliance, reporting, and strategic financial planning across the network.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading financial management, regulatory compliance, and reporting across all operational sites.
- Managing capital budgeting, forecasting, and providing commercial oversight of major programs.
- Delivering financial modelling and analysis to support investment proposals and business cases.
- Supporting strategic workforce planning and organisational change initiatives.
- Participating in tender evaluations and contract reviews to ensure financial integrity.
- Conducting financial risk assessments and maintaining compliance with internal and external standards.
- Preparing monthly financial reports for global headquarters, aligned with US GAAP, IFRS, and SOX controls.
- Providing strategic insights and partnering with senior stakeholders to drive growth and transformation.
Quarterly travel between sites is expected, and due to the scale and pace of operations, a strong onsite presence in Cairns is essential.
What you'll need to succeed
To thrive in this role, you will hold a CA or CPA qualification, supported by a tertiary degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. You will bring at least 10 years of experience in senior finance roles, ideally within complex, multi-national environments. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to influence senior stakeholders and foster collaborative relationships across the business.
You should have a solid foundation in financial modelling, forecasting, and strategic analysis, along with familiarity in working under US GAAP, IFRS, and SOX controls. While prior experience with these standards is preferred, training can be provided for the right candidate. Proficiency in ERP systems, particularly IFS and analytics platforms such as SAP BI and Power BI is highly desirable. Industry experience in aviation or MRO is advantageous but not essential. Candidates with a Big 4 background are highly regarded, especially those who demonstrate a proactive, autonomous approach and thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments.
What you'll get in return
This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership role within a high-growth, globally recognised organisation. Youll be empowered to lead strategic initiatives, drive transformation, and make a tangible impact across multiple operational sites. The role offers a competitive salary package ranging from $125,000 to $140,000 + super + bonus, tailored to your skills and experience. Youll be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team culture that values autonomy, initiative, and fresh ideas.
