Introduction Permanent/Full-time position for an experienced AOD Registered Nurse with a passion for helping clients in a community setting. Based within the SECADA Drug and Alcohol consortium in Dandenong with outreach/travel to clients in the South-Eastern Melbourne area. The Non-Residential Withdrawal (NRW) Registered Nurse, is located within the SECADA Drug and Alcohol (AOD) consortium, working alongside three partner agencies including Monash Health, Odyssey House and YSAS. The NRW Registered Nurse provides comprehensive assessment, risk formulation and withdrawal management to clients within a community setting. Treatment is provided via digital modalities, on-site and outreach. The role involves providing step-up/step-down care, assertive advocacy and referral. Deliver nursing assessments, case management, and support to clients, their families, and significant others, in diverse settings where appropriate. Provide care for individuals with co-existing conditions such as alcohol and other drug (AOD) use, mental health concerns, and acquired brain injuries. Support clients in accessing medical professionals, including GPs, Nurse Practitioners, and Addiction Medicine specialists. Connect clients with additional AOD treatment services and refer them to relevant health or community support agencies as needed. Initiate case management responsibilities, taking on primary responsibility for a caseload of clients. Coordinate and formulate client care across multiple services and providers, ensuring seamless delivery. Conduct clinical assessments for withdrawal, deliver withdrawal treatment, and offer referrals and information in line with harm minimisation principles. Offer brief therapeutic interventions such as harm reduction techniques, motivational interviewing, self-care guidance, and methods for managing anxiety and stress. Maintain comprehensive client documentation and case notes, ensuring accuracy and compliance and capturing relevant details for analysis. What we're looking for: 3 years’ experience in conducting drug and alcohol withdrawal and physical assessments. Knowledge of AOD pharmacotherapy principles, practice, and contemporary standards including evidence-based practice and interventions. Proven ability to work autonomously and apply professional and clinical judgement within scope. An ability to establish rapport with a range of stakeholders including clients, families, staff, and external service providers. Excellent administration skills with strong multitasking skills and ability to work autonomously. Ability to work in a faced paced environment and be part of a multidisciplinary team. Solution focused with a growth mindset and the ability manage self when experiencing organisational change, challenging clients and uncertainty. Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Current registration as Registered Nurse (Division 1) within the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Certificate IV in AOD or 4 AOD core competencies or willingness to complete studies during employment.
