Position Overview
The Sexual Health Program Nurse will be based in Broome on a Full-time Fixed Term Contract until 30/06/2027. This position will lead complex case coordination for sexual health service delivery across remote communities under the ACCHS Model of Care, with a strong emphasis on managing high-risk and priority cases, including those associated with the ongoing Syphilis outbreak and endemic STIs. A key focus will be the coordination and timely follow-up of results to ensure appropriate clinical action, alongside building workforce capacity through targeted training, mentoring, and clinical support to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care. The role will also drive the development and implementation of robust monitoring systems, using data to track testing, treatment, results management, and contact tracing outcomes, identify service gaps, and inform continuous quality improvement initiatives. In addition, the position will provide expert guidance on standards, policy, and best practice, while also contributing to the direct delivery of sexual health services to patients as required, ensuring care remains responsive, effective, and aligned with emerging evidence and community needs.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Coordinating and delivering clinical services in KAMS remote health centres with a focus on excellence in clinical standards.
* Managing complex cases and facilitating treatment and management in collaboration with KAMS remote clinics and the Kimberley Population Health Unit.
* Implementing initiatives to integrate STI testing into routine primary health care.
* Developing and coordinating clinical education, training, and mentorship on STI/BBV management and sexual health care.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
* Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
* Demonstrated experience in sexual health or primary health care nursing, particularly in Indigenous settings.
* Strong understanding of health issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to conduct training sessions for diverse audiences.
In addition, a post-graduate qualification in sexual health and experience with electronic patient information systems is desirable. A local Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander connection to the region is also advantageous.
Salary & Benefits
This position offers a competitive base salary ranging from $123,901 to $128,897 per annum pro rata, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
* Accommodation Allowance of $13,000 per annum pro rata
* Annual Airfare of $1,285 per annum (after 12 months of service)
* Electricity Allowance of $1,440 per annum pro rata
* District Allowance of $2,149 per annum pro rata
* Optional Salary Sacrifice up to $30,000 per annum pro rata
