We are looking for a passionate and hardworking Leader to join our Water and Sewer's Utilities team at Singleton Council. In this role, you'll make a real impact on the everyday lives of people within our community by achieving important outcomes for Singleton to grow and flourish.

Council provides water services to approximately 18,031 people, servicing the Singleton township and a number of nearby rural areas and industrial customers. In addition, Council has a considerable raw water system servicing mining and commercial customers.

Council provides sewerage treatment services to approximately 14,709 people in the urban footprint of Singleton comprising gravity system, numerous pump stations, a significant area of pressure sewer and a treatment plant.

**THE ROLE**

The Coordinator Utilities - Engineering leads a team of four specialists (mechanical, electrical/communications, civil and process) to deliver significant capital works projects and operational support.

The Coordinator manages and develops the capital works program, including regular review and prioritisation, and delivers a program of works each year. In addition, the Coordinator leads critical investigations into complex operational issues and plays a pivotal role Water and Sewer's response during emergencies such as fires or flood.

You will undertake a people leader role to your group and be supported by the Leadership network at Council. In delivering a program of works, you will track performance, budgets, timing and resourcing and have authority to implement changes to achieve the teams objectives.

In this role you will:

- Facilitate and manage the capital works program from conception to commissioning.
- A range of people management tasks, including developing your team and putting in place mechanisms to enable continuous improvement.
- Provide technical advice and support to other parts of Water and Sewer Group, Council generally, key customers and the community.
- Implement Business Continuity Plans during emergencies or operational issues.
- Investigate and respond to operational issues / incidents within the water and sewer networks, including regulatory obligations, customer complaints, reports from field staff and others as directed
- Get out of the office, trouble shooting issues with the team and make tangible improvements for the community.

**ESSENTIAL CRITERIA**

In addition to your relevant tertiary qualification (Engineering, Project Management, Science or equivalent related field) and extensive experience managing maintenance, renewal and capital works programs / projects, particularly those involving water reticulation and gravity / pressure sewer networks; you will be able to demonstrate:

- Substantial experience and demonstrated ability to lead, coach and support staff, and contractors, to achieve work targets and objectives effectively and efficiently;
- Ability to effectively manage challenges and changing priorities whilst delivering to team and corporate deadlines;
- Substantial ability to identify and contribute to process improvement at an operational and strategic level;
- Proven ability to communicate, consult and negotiate with industry bodies and associations effectively and independently; and
- Proven ability to identify, collect and analyse information and produce meaningful, business-focused reports for sound decision making.

This position is offered on a permanent, fulltime basis working 35 hours per week.

Remuneration for this position is based on Grade 15 of the salary system which equates to a base salary between $106,437 - $119,726 per annum plus superannuation. This position attracts a vehicle allowance of $16,309 per annum as well as Civil Liability Allowance of 3.5% of base salary.
