Job Description
We are looking for a people-focused Regional Director of Talent & Culture based in Hawaii at our Fairmont Kea Lani property who will have oversight for our Talent & Culture function across the region. This role supports our operational leaders by aligning people goals with business goals to achieve optimum results while cultivating a workplace that reflects the values of Hawaii’s local culture and the Aloha Spirit.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance:
Adherence of all Company programs and policies
Conduct Hotels Talent & Culture Audits across region, develop action plans as required, and monitoring completion
Support Talent & Culture systems and programs
Ensure adherence to all compliance training such as Discrimination & Harassment, Watch, and any locally compliant training
Manage bi-annual HR Data indicators and other metrics for roll-up to Global Talent & Culture Corporate office
Compensation:
Adhere to regional grade structure
Oversee annual salary and merit review within region
Review regional STIP awards with Regional Vice President and submit for approval in line with company guidelines
Engagement:
Manage and ensure maximum participation in annual and pulse surveys across the region
Review of regional EES results, providing guidance to Director, Talent & Culture and General Managers as needed, ensuring effective action planning across the region
Provide guidance and direction on effective action planning, monitor action planning initiatives
Liaise with Directors, Talent & Culture on communication strategies for promoting completion of initiatives and celebrating successes
Leadership:
Provide advice, guidance and general leadership to Directors of Talent & Culture within the Region
Provide input on the performance of Directors, Talent & Culture and success in achieving annual goals
Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, with deep respect for Hawaii’s unique cultural values and communities.
Legal:
Ensure Region and hotels are compliant on all labor laws and key amendments
Advise and guide on local legal HR matters – with legal counsel as appropriate
Handle any Ethics / Compliance / Privacy matters as required
Employee/Labor Relations:
Foster a positive, engaged, and inclusive workplace culture rooted in the principles of Aloha — kindness, unity, humility, and patience
Ensure local annual competitive set review is completed, and discrepancies are acted on
Support and guide employee/labor relations matters within the region as appropriate and ensure thoughtful and timely reporting of challenges & successes
Learning and Development:
Ensure all company culture and brand training is in place and conducted on a regular basis.
Ensure leaders are participating in Leadership Training Programs and initiatives
Own all regional Inspire participants, ensuring program elements being offered and development opportunities provided, meeting with participants on a regular basis
Recruitment:
Director of Talent & Culture appointments – recruit and identify lead candidate to be approved by NCA Corporate Talent & Culture
Onboard/orient new Directors, Talent & Culture
Support RVPs with recruitment of key leadership roles
Maintain strong relationships with hotel schools within region
Talent Management & Succession Planning:
Manage data for annual NCA Talent Review, ensuring data is accurate and valid
Manage succession planning and movement of internal talent as appropriate across the Region
Ensure a strong mentor program within region with program coordinator oversight in place
Update regional succession reports as required
Qualifications
Values based individual who has the interest and ability to embrace the aloha way of life.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience with oversight for more than one unit
Strategic thinking with ability to execute plans and produce results
Excellent inter-personal and communication skills (written and verbal)
Collaborator, with the ability to build strong relationships
Subject matter expertise on company programs, systems, policies and procedures
Strong business acumen and analytical thinker
Excellent presentation skills
University Degree in HR or related discipline preferred
