Your new role
The Branch Risk role is a first line of defence role and part of the Business Control Unit within the Australian Wealth Management business. The key function of the role is to identify, escalate and manage risks through carrying out supervision and surveillance monitoring relating to investment advice and suitability, product and risk disclosures, and other product specific requirements.
* Develop strong working relationships with the business and play a key role maintaining the risk culture
* Assist State Managers in supervision across the business and manage exceptions and escalations.
* Providing guidance to advisers relating to their regulatory and risk obligations
* Report key risks and performance to management on a regular basis.
* Assisting to oversee and quality assurance review of surveillance monitoring.
* Collaborate across the business and other functions to support advisors and clients.
* Contribute to and assist with management information material for the Supervision Committee.
What you'll need to succeed
* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline e.g. Commerce, Business, Economics, Finance or similar
* This role would suit a Risk/Compliance Analyst with some banking or wealth management risk experience
* Knowledge of wealth management/investments
* Knowledge of financial markets and products including knowledge of equities, OTC derivatives, fixed income, managed/hedge funds and foreign exchange products.
* Strong analytical skills, accuracy and the ability to interpret data or trends
* Confident communication skills and the ability to support and challenge stakeholders when needed
* A proactive mindset, resilience and the ability to manage competing priorities
* Experience with data analytics (Power BI) skills desirable but not essential
