The Opportunity
The Legal Research Officer is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of key Legal Services reference materials including the Law Handbook, publications, and the Legal Services website. The Legal Research Officer will be informed on current South Australian and Commonwealth law through research and current awareness activities.
Working under the direction of the Senior Legal Research Officer and within a broader Communications & Engagement team, the Legal Research Officer will monitor trends and matters of public importance and interest and respond to identified areas of legal need whilst liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

Salary Range
$85,790 to $95,413 salary plus 12% super and leave loading.

As a not-for-profit organisation, Legal Services offers its employees attractive salary sacrifice arrangements, including up to $15,900 pre-tax each Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) each year for general living expenses.
Term of Employment
18 month temporary contract at the ASO5 classification level.
What You Need For Success
The ideal candidate will:
* Possess a minimum of 2 years' post admission legal experience such as legal practice or legal research.
* Be an admitted practitioner of the Supreme Court of South Australia.
* Hold an unrestricted Category C Practicing Certificate or be currently eligible to apply for an unrestricted Category C Practicing Certificate.
* Have a demonstrated ability to work effectively, under limited direction, both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team and establish effective working relationships.
* Have demonstrated experience in legal research, the interpretation of legislation and the application of case law.
* Have demonstrated experience in preparing written information in plain English in a variety of written and online formats such as educational resources, publications, and training materials for different audiences.
* Possess sound knowledge of law generally, and in particular criminal law, family law and administrative law matters relevant to Legal Services clients and staff.
