Collins Executive Recruitment has been exclusively mandated to appoint an Asset Manager on behalf of a large global private markets investor, supporting the continued expansion of its real estate finance platform.
This is a genuine investor-side seat managing a portfolio of structured, construction-backed credit investments across Australia. The role carries direct responsibility for performance and capital protection, overseeing live positions from financial close through to exit.
The Opportunity
You will manage projects on a cost-to-complete basis, identifying budget pressure, programme slippage and market risk early. You will maintain and refine detailed financial models across feasibility, gearing, cashflow and IRR sensitivities, ensuring return assumptions remain commercially realistic.
Where performance deviates from underwriting, you will help determine the course of action - whether through covenant enforcement, negotiated amendments, restructuring discussions or repositioning the exit.
You will assess valuations and quantity surveyor reports with a credit lens, manage loan and security documentation alongside external counsel, oversee drawdowns and repayments, and actively monitor compliance milestones.
The role sits at the intersection of construction risk, legal structure and credit discipline within the Australian market. It requires strong judgement, technical confidence and the ability to make clear decisions when projects move off plan.
The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years' experience in either:
* Restructuring & turnaround advisory with some real estate exposure
* Asset management within a credit fund or bank, managing property loans
* Restructuring or insolvency lawyers with strong real estate experience
* Quantity surveyors with strong financial skills and commercial acumen
The common thread is an ability to assess risk objectively, understand documentation and capital structure, and remain commercially decisive when projects move off plan. You will need strong analytical capability, confidence navigating loan and security documentation, and the judgement to manage stakeholders through complex situations.
