Position Summary: The Virtual Sales Specialist - Laboratory Consumables is dedicated to driving sales of scientific products and services via telephone, email, and other digital methods to markets or customers as defined by the portfolio team. This office-based role is focused on serving customers across a key range of market segments including academic research, clinical, food dairy and beverage, and other industrial and applied markets. The Virtual Sales Specialist - Laboratory Consumables maintains effective customer relations, develops opportunities for growth within both an existing customer base and new customer base, and assures market penetration while achieving sales and profit objectives.
Key Responsibilities: Leverage marketing programs to support sales achievement and territory penetration through proactive customer contact.Responsible for meeting sales targets and creating growth opportunities through telesales focused on specific SSPG consumables sales programs.Manage pricing within territory to optimise profitability as determined by the portfolio team.Utilise sales data to improve sales efficiency and capture greatest value.Constantly strive to improve selling skills, product, industry and competitive market knowledge.Monitor outcomes of activities through use of SalesForce.com, including managing a pipeline of opportunities and applying this data to support financial forecasts.Actively participate in teamwork forums to share market trend insights, competitor intelligence, and customer feedback.Participate in training and development programs as a means of continuous improvement.Positively represent Thermo Fisher Scientific at all times.Utilise a unique approach to improve outcomes of telemarketing programs and work with portfolio to implement ideas.Use key tools and databases to mine for new customers.Meet critical metric objectives for number of outbound calls including new contacts and follow up calls.Frequent Contacts: Internal: Sales DevelopmentSales SupportCustomer CareTechnical SupportDirectorsProduct SpecialistsSales ManagersSalesExternal: Existing customers - influencers through to decision-makersPotential customers - influencers through to decision-makersMinimum Requirements/Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, preferably in the sciences desirable.Previous work experience in a commercial environment, preferably sales experience.Highly motivated and driven; daring for a successful sales career.Confident personality, able to successfully communicate with customers.Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and presentation skills.Must possess the organisational skills to multi-task and meet set goals as needed.Computer proficiency in MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint and the Internet along with use of Salesforce.com CRM software.Ability to quickly learn and grasp technical concepts.Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.Demonstrated willingness to develop professional selling skills.Demonstration of Thermo Fisher Scientific values (The Four I's) – Integrity, Intensity Innovation, and Involvement.Other Job Requirements: Adhere to OHS policies and procedures and ensure a safe and healthy workplace environment.Thermo Fisher Scientific is an EEO/Affirmative Action Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, disability or any other legally protected status.
