- The Royal Melbourne Hospital Social Work team consists of over 40 staff members who work across the City and Royal Park Campuses in acute, sub-acute and community based services across a range of specialties.
- This position offers opportunities to gain experience working in a well-supported multidisciplinary team environment with patients in the sub-acute hospital. Work areas include Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM), inpatient rehabilitation and community therapy services. This role provides clinical cover in instances of staff leave which gives excellent opportunity to work with various teams in the sub-acute and community hospital services.
**Your new role**:
- Complete psychosocial assessments and provide emotional support and counselling to patients and their families and/or carers.
- Liaise with service providers and refer to Community Services, Aged Care Assessment Service and Transition Care Program.
- Provide Social Work service, supervision and education of student and junior Social Workers and join our supportive team.
- You will be supported by Social Work team leaders (Grade 3) and clinical lead (Grade 4) as well as the ward based multi-disciplinary team.
**About you**:
- You are a qualified Social Worker (either current member or current eligibility for AASW) with at least 4 years work experience as a Social Worker.
- You are an adaptable and quick learner with proven ability to work autonomously in hospital environments.
- You are able to deliver excellent consumer focussed clinical care to patients and their carers.
- You have the experience and skills to mentor and supervise junior staff.
