This is a permanent full-time appointment at 76 hours per fortnight, with an initial probationary period of three months.

Eligibility to Apply: To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments).

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
Position Profile: A Senior Medical Physicist is required to join the Clinical Physics Division of the Health Technology Management Unit which provides physics services to several hospitals, most notably Royal Perth Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital. The role involves providing expert scientific advice and physics support with respect to advanced radiological imaging modalities such as CT, mammography, and ultrasound, and overseeing the X-ray compliance testing program. The role also involves testing other imaging equipment including radiographic and fluoroscopic X-ray units, and to provide general radiation safety expertise, e.g. dosimetry and room planning. The position will also entail administration of radionuclides to patients and teaching. It is also expected that the successful candidate will be involved in medical research.
Area Profile: The East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) comprises an extensive hospital and health service network thataims to maintain and improve the health and wellbeing of more than 670,000 Western Australians in itscatchment area.Our hospital network works together to provide a combination of tertiary, secondary andspecialist health care services including emergency and critical care, state trauma, electiveand emergency surgery, general medical, mental health, inpatient and outpatient services,aged care, palliative care, rehabilitation and women's, children's and neonates services.
The EMHS consists of Royal Perth Hospital; Armadale Health Service; Bentley HealthService; Kalamunda Hospital; St Johnof God Midland Public Hospital and a range of community and population health services.
