About the Business
We’re partnering with a large, complex national organisation with a multi-billion-dollar footprint and a strong mandate for transformation. With a transport network that touches every part of the country, this business is investing heavily in long-term infrastructure and capability uplift - and this role is a key part of that future.
With a greenfield program of work now underway, this is a rare opportunity to lead an enterprise-wide Transport Management System (TMS) implementation from the ground up.
The Opportunity
As Program Director – TMS, you’ll own the end-to-end delivery of a national TMS rollout, from strategy and system selection through to implementation, benefit realisation, and long-term integration. The program spans multiple years and geographies, impacting a high-volume, highly visible first, middle and last mile transport network.
You’ll engage across operations, technology, commercial and finance teams, while overseeing vendors, integrators and internal capability uplift. This is a business-critical, high-accountability role with long-term impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Lead the national TMS strategy, roadmap and phased delivery over a multi-year program.
* Own system selection, RFP and vendor negotiation - with clear budget and performance accountability.
* Manage internal and external relationships across operations, finance, HR, IT and third-party providers.
* Build the business case and track delivery against DIFOT, safety, CX and commercial metrics.
* Oversee program governance – timelines, cost, risk, change, stakeholder and resource planning.
* Build and lead a high-performing internal team while managing SI/partner delivery.
* Influence across functional and executive levels to embed long-term capability.
* Align program with wider enterprise transformation goals – culture, systems, leadership and ways of working.
What You’ll Bring
Proven experience leading national-scale TMS implementations (first–last mile).
Strong commercial and program leadership across transformation, logistics, or large network operations.
Experience engaging and managing systems integrators and large-scale vendors.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and align stakeholders around complex change.
Deep understanding of Agile/Waterfall methodologies, project governance, and benefit tracking.
Hands-on, delivery-focused mindset with clear communication and strategic vision.
Highly Regarded
- Exposure to high-volume, large scale logistics or retail environments.
- Experience navigating unionised workforces or regulated sectors.
- TMS systems implementation experience within complex, multi-site operations.
- Track record of leading people through large-scale operational change.
Why Consider This?
This is a rare opportunity to drive real, lasting transformation in a national transport environment - backed by executive sponsorship, significant investment and a long-term vision. You’ll be stepping into a values-led organisation with a strong EVP, a focus on inclusion and wellbeing, and a culture that supports bold ideas, shared ownership, and high performance.
