The Indigenous Drivers Licensing Unit (IDLU), based in Cairns, North Queensland, delivers Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) services to regional and remote First Nations communities in a culturally safe manner. The IDLU delivers the Indigenous Drivers licensing Program (IDLP), which aims to reduce road trauma, drive economic engagement, and reduce contact with the criminal justice system, through access to licensing services.
About Your Opportunity
In the role of Senior Advisor (Indigenous Driver Licensing Unit), your primary objective is to enhance customer experiences and oversee pivotal operational functions aligned with service delivery.
Specific duties assigned to you include, but are not limited to:
* Supervise the operations of the Indigenous Driver Licensing Unit that delivers services across multiple channels, using appropriate consultative management techniques, including the training and development of staff, to ensure optimum use of resources within a cohesive team environment.
* Be the first point of contact for the escalation of customer and service delivery partners concerns and complaints. Problem solve remote service delivery issues as they arise in a professional and timely manner.
* Contribute to the development of operational and financial plans for the Indigenous Driver Licensing Unit, ensuring compliance with established audit requirements. For example, but not limited to, through the development of operational workforce plans and the purchase of goods and services.
* Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of required services to be able to perform service interactions including procedures, processes, and customer channel options.
* Provide expert advice and interpretation to staff and customers on policy and procedures within a wide legislative and system framework.
* Conduct performance assessment processes with staff including providing feedback on work and behavioural performance. Develop learning and development programs with staff. Refer more complex people management matters to the Manager (Indigenous Driver Licensing Program) as required.
* Ensure office security measures are maintained.
* In the circumstances where the Manager (IDLP) is absent for a limited period you may be asked to supervise the management of the IDLU.
