Introduction
Our client is a private landholder of premium Australian agricultural assets, managing a diverse portfolio of over 59,500 hectares across eastern Australia. They have established themselves as a market leader in sustainable livestock and crop production, driven by a philosophy of continuous growth and improvement, alongside deep-seated values for the ethical care of land and animals. Their Victorian operation is a high-performing aggregation that balances commercial scale with best-practice standards, offering a professional environment for those who are passionate about the future of the red meat and wool industries.
An exciting opportunity has opened for a passionate and experienced livestock operator to join this progressive and innovative company as Assistant Manager. This role is designed for a dedicated individual who wants to take ownership of livestock outcomes and play a critical part in the future success of a large-scale farming enterprise.
The Role
Working closely with the Manager, you will be a key driver of the day-to-day operations on this high-performing 2,800-hectare property. This isn't a \"sit behind the desk\" role; we're looking for a proactive leader who thrives in the yards and paddocks, isn't afraid to get their hands dirty, and can provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members while supporting and collaborating with experienced staff to achieve the best outcomes.
You will take ownership of the 10,000 composite ewes and 900 cows, assisting in the implementation of livestock and pasture management programs to drive productivity and profit. Beyond the livestock, you'll work with and mentor staff and contractors, manage machinery maintenance, and maintain sharp farm records while upholding high safety standards and company QA policies.
The Candidate
You are a self-starter with genuine \"stock sense\" and a commitment to excellence. You take pride in watching an enterprise improve and have the communication skills to lead a team effectively.
To be successful, you will need a minimum of 5 years of industry experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role, such as an Overseer, Assistant Manager, or experienced farmhand. A quality team of working dogs is essential for this position.
The Offer
Our client offers a supportive, progressive environment where growth and professional standards are part of everyday life.
* Remuneration: A competitive salary package between $80,000 - $110,000 is available for negotiation, plus performance incentives.
* Accommodation: A comfortable, recently refurbished 4-bedroom family home nestled within established gardens.
* Tools of Trade: A work Ute, a mobile phone, and a Starlink are provided.
* Lifestyle: Located 16km from Woolsthorpe and 41km from Warrnambool, you are close to schools and essential amenities, with Melbourne less than 3 hours away.
