On behalf of our geotechnical-focused engineering consultancy client, we are recruiting for a highly experienced geotechnical engineer in Newcastle, New South Wales, with significant experience in Instrumentation & Monitoring and earthworks on soft soils.
Key responsibilities include site verifications such as piles and temporary works, requiring chartered engineer sign-off. CPEng qualification would be ideal.
This project has a duration of 4 years. We are seeking to engage a consultant or contractor for at least one year, with typical working hours from Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 17:00. We are open to multi-week rosters for flexibility.
The Construction Phase Supervision scope includes:
* Soft Soils Instrumentation & Monitoring
o Monitoring and troubleshooting incoming data
* Piling Supervision
o Bored / driven piles
o Soft rock / paleo channel
* Earthworks
* Ground verification activities
* Providing recommendations (including simple calculations) to assist the Construction Team
* Supporting temporary works designs, primarily undertaken by our in-house designers
* Site verification of temporary works designs
We seek a candidate eager to take ownership of the project, with significant autonomy in daily tasks, supported by a dedicated and accessible national team.
Ideally, you will have:
* 10+ years of industry experience in Geotechnical Engineering
* Strong technical knowledge in soil/rock mechanics
* Fieldwork experience across various geological conditions
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Proficient report writing and organizational skills
* A current Australian driver's license
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, employing a risk-based approach
