Overview
We are currently seeking a Commis Chef at The Reef Hotel Casino, the pre-eminent centre for gaming, entertainment, food and accommodation in Cairns. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced chef to join the kitchen brigade.
Responsibilities
- Food preparation, mise en place, and presentation for breakfast, functions, dinner, and buffet service.
- Work operationally in Tamarind, Flinders Bar & Grill, Merchant Café, Room Service, and Soy Kitchen.
- Work closely with all chefs to ensure no doubling up of stock / product occurs.
- Set and accomplish daily routine, in conjunction with Chef de Partie and/or Sous Chef.
- Coordinate activities with Chefs and Apprentices to maintain maximum production levels.
- Work as part of a team and maintain a clean and hygienic work environment whilst ensuring a product of high quality and presentation standards.
Criteria
- Completed & recognised trade apprenticeship.
- A passion for the culinary arts.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment without negative impact.
- Pro-active and self-motivated with an eye for detail.
- Commitment to quality presentation for all menu items.
- Able to perform multiple tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and happy demeanour.
- Ability to accommodate flexibility with hours.
- Excellent standard of presentation and hygiene.
