An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior QA Technician to join a well-established and growing food manufacturing facility located in the South Burnett region of Queensland. This role offers the chance to be part of a close-knit, professional team committed to producing safe, high-quality products for both the wholesale and retail domestic markets.
Working closely with the Operations Manager, this hands-on role will see you supporting the daily operation of food safety systems, leading in-process checks, and ensuring full compliance with industry and customer standards. You'll play a key role in maintaining the business's strong reputation for quality products and compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
* Review, maintain and improve QA/QC documentation (SOPs, work instructions, records, forms) and change control.
* Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, regulatory requirements and GFSI/BRC certification standards.
* Lead internal audits, site inspections and gap analyses; manage non‑conformances and CAPA to closure.
* Plan, coordinate and host external audits (BRC, customer, regulatory) and maintain year‑round audit readiness.
* Own quality incident investigations and root cause analysis; implement preventive actions and verify effectiveness.
* Trend and report quality metrics; prepare dashboards and management review inputs.
* Coordinate sampling, testing, calibration and verification programs; liaise with internal/third‑party labs.
* Provide training and coaching on GMP, hygiene, allergen/foreign matter control and document compliance.
* Work cross‑functionally with Production, Maintenance, Procurement, Logistics and Warehouse on quality outcomes.
* Support supplier approval, incoming goods verification and supplier corrective actions.
* Champion continuous improvement (e.g. Statistical Process Control, lean practices) to reduce defects/rejections, paperwork and improve process capability.
* Provide QA and food safety insight for the development of new business sites and commissioning of new plant.
Criteria to ensure your success:
* 5+ years' experience in QA/Food Safety within food manufacturing (nuts/commodities an advantage).
* Demonstrated experience with GFSI/BRC audits and managing corrective actions.
* Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, allergen management and relevant local government regulations and Safe Food Queensland.
* Proven self‑starter, hands-on, able to work autonomously, prioritise and deliver to deadlines.
* Excellent documentation control, attention to detail and problem‑solving/RCA skills.
* Effective communication and stakeholder engagement across operations and management.
* Competent with Microsoft Office for reporting and data analysis; tertiary qualification in Food Science/Quality preferred.
