Position Overview:
The Bookkeeper is responsible for managing the financial transactions and records of Geelong United Basketball and Geelong Venom WNBL. This role ensures accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and supports the financial health of the association. The Bookkeeper will work closely with the Business Manager, CEO, and other stakeholders to maintain transparent and organised financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
* Process invoices, receipts, and payments in a timely manner.
* Reconcile bank statements and financial accounts.
* Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for GUB Management and Board of Directors.
* Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, tax requirements, and reporting deadlines.
* Manage financial transactions related to registration fees, sponsorships, fundraising, and event expenses.
* Support financial audits by preparing necessary documentation.
* Implement and maintain internal financial controls and policies.
* Collaborate with staff and volunteers on financial procedures related to programs and events.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Proven experience as a bookkeeper, or in a related financial role.
* Proficiency in Xero accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
* Experience with Microkeeper - HR & payroll platform (advantage but not essential)
* Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles, financial regulations, and reporting.
* Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
* Experience in a non-profit or sports organisation is a plus.
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
