The ideal candidate will ensure the game is clear, engaging and professionally presented, with a focus on mechanics and documentation rather than artwork or digital prototyping.
Responsibilities
Analyze and refine existing game mechanics to enhance clarity and playability
Develop and structure a detailed Game Design Document (GDD) covering all core systems, rules, and components
Balance gameplay elements to ensure strategic depth and fairness
Prepare submission-ready documentation and materials for publisher review
Collaborate with the project owner to iterate on feedback and implement improvements
Ensure all documentation is professionally formatted and accessible to both publishers and playtesters
Skills And Requirements
Proven experience designing tabletop or board games, with a portfolio of published or prototype titles
Strong expertise in creating and organizing Game Design Documents (GDDs)
Deep understanding of game balancing, mechanics, and player engagement strategies
Excellent written communication and documentation skills
Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines
Familiarity with dark fantasy themes and environmental storytelling is a plus
No artwork or digital prototyping required for this role
Availability for a single project with potential for follow-up work
