We have a terrific opportunity for an experienced P&C Business Partner to join our People & Culture team. This position is based in our new venue in Geelong and reports to the Head of People Partnering and Services (Melbourne). VCET’s People & Culture team are a shared corporate service, and this BP will be predominantly based in Geelong, with one day a week working in Melbourne (other days as required).
This is a rare opportunity to see a new venue come to life! The venue opens in July 2026 with an initial focus on ensuring the required staff have been hired and onboarded in time. The role is a truly generalist role encompassing recruitment, talent pipeline management, industrial and employee relations support, performance management and implementing P&C strategies onsite.

Set to open in July 2026 on the Geelong Waterfront, Nyaal Banyul will be Australia’s newest convention and event centre. About the Role
* Implement VCET People & Culture strategies and programs into the Geelong venue
* Build and maintain sound relationships with your client portfolio, understanding their priorities to become a trusted advisor and strategic partner on people and culture issues
* Guide, educate and support Geelong leaders on matters the impact their people – including policy, performance, talent acquisition and engagement
* In consultation with the Head of People Partnering and the CPO, support venue organisation design activity (including for organisation restructure),
* Collaborate with the Organisation Design team to implement programs that support people development and succession planning
* Provide end to end recruitment support to the client group, working with managers to develop a solid understanding of divisional/team capability needs, support Position Description development, candidate sourcing and participating in interviews.
* Collaborate with the P&C Advisor and/or Head of PPS on complex employee relations issues and conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations with support as needed
* Provide subject matter expertise to Managers and employees on the VCET Enterprise agreement and employee lifecycle requirements
What you will need
We are seeking someone who:
* Has demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably as a stand-alone P&C Business Partner in an organisation with a highly casualised workforce
* You are customer centric, responsive, collaborative and able to balance business needs with driving an employee experience that is fair and empathetic
* Has a demonstrated solid understanding of workplace legislation, ER and IR practices, EBA interpretation and case management practices
* Has a consultative approach to advising and supporting employees and leaders.
* Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage challenging situations, including crises, with composure and confidence
* Flexible, resilient and able to prioritise effectively
* High levels of initiative, curiosity, and display of a positive “can-do” attitude
* Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills, able to positively influence others
* Can apply a consultative approach to advising and supporting employees and leaders, able to positively influence
