Location: Western Sydney, NSW
Salary Package: $200-$220K + Super & Bonus
Role highlights: End-to-end Controllership role within a premium consumer brand; Genuine technical 2IC to CFO; Growth mandate
Role Overview
Exclusive to Reo Group, this is a highly exciting role within the ANZ subsidiary of a global, premium branded business. Circa $300 million in revenue across the region, the organisation has a new senior Leadership team all appointed within the last 12 months with a clear strategic vision to take them to 2030 and beyond. This role has been created through international mobility, meaning the incoming Head of Accounting is joining to lead a stable, technically strong function with no people or reporting issues to fix. What is important to the client is having someone to operate as the CFO's most trusted technical and leadership partner and to evolve the Accounting function which sits at 9 people, towards deeper commercial engagement and stronger business partnering. Longer term, the Head of Accounting will be a key part of a global Finance Transformation programme which will include a new system rollout.
Responsibilities
* Financial Accounting Ownership: Lead end-to-end statutory reporting, balance sheet management, audit, tax and transfer pricing.
* Financial Operations: Oversee AP, AR, payroll accounting, fixed assets, treasury and free cash flow forecasting.
* Group HQ Relationship: Own the direct relationship with internal controls, operational finance and reporting counterparts in the global Head Office.
* People Leadership: Lead and develop a team of nine, including Financial Accounting, AP, AR and Payroll.
* Function Evolution: Partner with the CFO to shift the function's centre of gravity, from traditional accounting toward genuine business partnering, better financial storytelling, and deeper commercial influence across the business.
* Process & Systems Improvement: Identify and deliver ERP optimisation, automation and workflow improvements. The CFO wants someone who has seen what great looks like elsewhere and can bring that perspective in without disrupting what already works.
Candidate Profile
This role is a brilliant opportunity for a candidate with a solid leadership background specifically in the Financial Control space. The ideal candidate will be CA or CPA qualified with 5 to 10 years of progressive experience, likely from a complex corporate environment which could be an MNC subsidiary, ASX-listed business, or a globally governed organisation where group reporting, internal controls frameworks and HQ relationships are part of the daily fabric.
You may be a strong Financial Controller or senior accounting leader inside a larger business, ready to step into your first true end-to-end ownership role or you have led an accounting function before and are drawn to a business entering a new chapter, one where your outside‐in perspective is genuinely valued, and where you can move quickly and make your mark. In either case, you lead with technical credibility, earn trust through your people, and provide the financial rigour a global business requires. ANZ multi‐entity exposure is a meaningful differentiator and whilst specific sector experience is not required, those who come from a complex consumer / manufacturing / retail / distribution environment will be strongly preferred.
Company, Culture & Benefits
This is a globally recognised, purpose‐driven organisation which is built on a culture of being proud of the brand it carries. They are collaborative, people‐focused, and deeply committed to developing the leaders within it. The track record speaks for itself with multiple finance and commercial leaders moving from the local business into international group roles.
For the incoming Head of Accounting, the opportunity is significant. You will have direct visibility to the CFO, a seat in strategic conversations that matter, and the mandate to shape what this function looks like in two, five and ten years. The natural career progression from this role for the right person with the right appetite, is towards a CFO or Regional Finance Director position, locally or internationally.
A hybrid working pattern is available for this role, with the team being office based for 3 days per week.
* ANZ Subsidiary of a global premium branded business
