You’ll play a key part in supporting resident wellbeing by maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation across the home.
About the role
As a Cleaning Assistant, you will deliver essential cleaning services across resident rooms and shared areas, while following workplace safety and infection control expectations. You’ll also contribute positively to team culture and participate in team meetings and development conversations.
Key responsibilities
Your day-to-day duties may include (but are not limited to):
* Cleaning and maintaining common areas such as dining rooms, living areas, sitting rooms and recreational spaces (daily and weekly cleaning tasks).
* Cleaning staff and office areas including nurse stations, admin offices, meeting rooms and staff rooms (e.g., bins, floors, surfaces, dusting).
* Cleaning and maintaining resident rooms, including routine cleaning of floors, surfaces and fixtures, and periodic deeper cleaning activities.
* Cleaning bathrooms and toilets, including disinfecting surfaces and replenishing supplies as required.
* Working safely and supporting a hygienic environment through infection control-aligned cleaning practices.
* Contributing to a positive workplace culture by working collaboratively and representing Catholic Healthcare professionally.
About you
To be successful, you will bring:
* A relevant qualification such as Cert III in Cleaning Operations (or similar), or willingness to work towards relevant skills (as aligned to the role profile).
* Experience in a residential aged care setting (desirable).
* Warm, respectful communication skills and the ability to interact appropriately with residents and families.
* Strong time management and the ability to prioritise tasks.
* A sound understanding of workplace health and safety and the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* A commitment to respecting residents’ values, customs, preferences, and spiritual beliefs.
