The Role
An opportunity has become available for a Family Carer Peer Worker - Identified Lived Experience (Child and Youth Mental Health Services) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
Provide family carer peer support, practical assistance, education, information and referrals to carers, families and significant others
Work collaboratively with staff, service providers and Non-Governments Organisations to improve understanding of family recovery and build capacity for responsive frameworks
Maintain accurate and timely records of contacts and other activities
Comply with reasonable instructions that are provided for the safety of you and others at the workplace.
Contribute to team cohesion and effectiveness. This includes promoting awareness of the team and participation in team networking, professional development and supervision meetings and activities
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work is highly desirable
Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Temporary part time (60.8 hours per p.f., 6 months with possibility of extension)
Base salary ranging from $39.98 - $44.46

The team provides a responsive program of recovery-oriented peer support, education, and information for consumers, families and carers. The team's goal is to increase consumer, family and carer participation in the planning, delivery and evaluation of mental health and alcohol and other drugs services.
