Building Consultant – Insurance
We’re partnering with a highly respected national organisation undergoing strong growth in WA. They are now seeking an experienced Building Consultant to join their Perth team and provide expert technical assessments across a wide range of insurance-related building claims.
If you have a background as a Builder, Building Estimator, Building Supervisor, or already work within insurance building assessments, this is a strong opportunity to elevate your career within a professional consulting environment.

About You
- 2+ years’ experience in building consultancy OR solid trade/site experience as a builder, estimator, or supervisor (ideally with insurance/remedial exposure, but not essential)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong judgement, attention to detail, and client-focused thinking
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a quick-paced environment
- Proficiency in preparing detailed technical reports
- A positive, polished and professional approach
- Strong understanding of domestic and commercial building practices
- Ability to interpret building codes, regulations and technical matters
- Background in construction, trade, or insurance building
- Registration as a building practitioner (builder, building inspector, building surveyor, engineer or quantity surveyor) – highly regarded
- Current driver’s licence
The Opportunity
You will act as the primary technical advisor for insurance clients, completing building inspections, diagnosing failures, assessing damage, and preparing clear, comprehensive technical reports. Your expertise will guide decision-making around repair strategies, liability, and remediation.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough onsite inspections to assess defects, compliance issues and building failures
- Prepare unbiased, detailed technical reports outlining cause, extent of damage and recommended rectification
- Assist with expert witness documentation when required
- Maintain current knowledge of industry standards, codes and legislation
- Prepare reports including defect, incomplete work, dilapidation, stage inspections and condition assessments
- Communicate findings clearly to internal and external stakeholders
