Description: About the Role
It takes courage to lead change — and this is your chance. Richmind WA is opening a brand-recent Step-Up Step-Down Service in Karratha in early 2026, and we’re looking for passionate Recovery Support Workers to join our team.
What’s the role about? Being a Recovery Support Worker at Richmind WA is more than just a job - it’s a calling. You’ll support people navigating mental distress to build independence, reconnect with their strengths, and take steps toward the life they want to live. This means helping with life skills, offering emotional support, and showing up as a consistent, compassionate presence.
What does a typical day look like?
- Sharing a cuppa and talking through the day’s recovery goals
- Helping someone practice budgeting, cooking, or transport planning
- Supporting a person in distress with empathy and calm
- Celebrating a small but powerful win (like attending a group activity)
- Logging notes, chatting with your team, or attending a learning session
- Supporting a resident’s family to understand how to walk the recovery journey with them
Skills and Experiences: What makes you a great fit? You don’t need to be a mental health expert—you just need to care deeply about people and believe in their ability to grow and heal.
- Has a Cert IV in Mental Health, Community Services, or similar - or experience in mental health
- Is emotionally intelligent, calm under pressure, and values teamwork
- Can support someone through a tough moment, not just a task
- Understands (or wants to learn) recovery-oriented practice
- Has a current driver’s licence and relevant checks (see below)
- Lived experience of recovery (as a consumer, carer or family member) is especially valued here.
You’ll need:
- Cert IV in a mental health or similar or previous experience
- National Police Clearance (under 6 months old)
- Working With Children Check
- First Aid & CPR (HLTAID011, HLTAID010, HLTAID009)
- Valid driver’s licence
Richmind WA is committed to improving employment opportunities and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. As a measure to achieve equality and support, Section 51 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA) will apply to this position. Aboriginal people are encouraged to apply.
