Overview We are a nationally recognised Registered Training Organisation (RTO), committed to delivering industry-leading training and educational services nationwide. We're looking for an experienced inhouse Senior Web Developer to join our team. In this role, you will manage our digital platforms end-to-end — from coding in PHP and managing hosting environments through to ensuring our websites deliver exceptional performance, UX, and SEO results across all devices.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of development, infrastructure, and digital marketing, with hands-on experience in web technologies, GitHub/Git workflows, website hosting, data tracking and API integrations. You will work closely with and support our other web developers, designers, SEO, and content teams, and report directly to the Digital Marketing Manager & Head of Marketing. The ideal candidate is a creative problem solver who will work in coordination with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain our websites and web tools. You must be comfortable working as part of a team while taking the initiative to lead on new innovations and projects.
Responsibilities
Build, maintain, and optimise a large website fleet, with extensive experience in PHP, WordPress, Elementor & related technologies.
Manage hosting infrastructure across Google Cloud and platforms like Cloudways (or equivalent), ensuring uptime, scalability, and security.
Use GitHub/Git workflows for version control, collaboration, and deployment pipelines.
Support content and SEO teams with technical implementations that improve rankings, conversions, and visibility.
Apply SEO best practices into site architecture (technical, on-page, speed optimisation, structured data).
Collaborate with our team of web developers, website designers, SEO specialists & content teams to deliver seamless, user-friendly digital experiences.
Manage integrations with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console, CRM/LMS systems, and other digital tools.
Ensure all web properties are secure, compliant, and optimised for both search visibility and user experience.
Required Skills & Experience
Experience with managing custom child themes and plugins using PHP to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
Experience with WordPress management at scale.
Proven experience with hosting environments and Google Cloud and platforms like Cloudways (or equivalent).
Exposure to security hardening, CDN, and performance monitoring tools (Status Cake, New Relic).
Familiarity with server management (AWS, Cloudways, cPanel, etc.) and CDN implementations (Cloudflare).
Proficiency with GitHub/Git version control and collaborative workflows.
Solid understanding of SEO fundamentals (technical SEO, structured data, performance optimisation).
Knowledge of UX/UI principles and ability to collaborate with design and marketing teams with proficiency in design tools such as Figma & Adobe XD (or similar).
Comfortable working cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to balance technical precision with business outcomes.
Strong analytical ability to evaluate end-to-end customer experience.
Nice To Have Skills
Knowledge of digital analytics, tracking & reporting tools (GA4, GTM, Looker Studio).
Experience with custom API integrations.
Proficiency in WooCommerce setup, including custom store functionality,
