The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a skilled Design Manager to join our team in Canberra. As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the design quality and buildability of a project. This involves collaborating with clients, preparing client briefs, liaising with design consultants and internal stakeholders, and coordinating documentation using BIM, CAD, and other software systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage consultant engagement and design process
* Prepare preliminary project evaluations and feasibility studies
* Create scope of work and design brief
* Develop preliminary design concepts
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients
* Oversee authority approvals including Development Approvals, Building Approvals, and local government requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management
* At least 2 years' experience within a construction company as a design manager or coordinator (or 5+ years' experience as a design consultant with coordination/leadership skills on Design & Construct projects)
* Commercial acumen within the building industry
* Good knowledge of Design & Construction Projects
* Familiarity with the construction process from start to completion
* Proven ability to lead and manage a team of consultants
* A solid understanding of technology relevant to the role
* Experience working on education and health projects
