About the Role:
The Senior Occupational Therapist plays a critical role in providing specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention to patients accepted to the caseload of the treating team.
* Assess, interpret and intervene to improve occupational performance by identifying individual needs based on functional deficits and strengths, risk assessment and promoting occupational choices that balance work, leisure and self-care.
* Focus on developing life roles and skills required for community adaptation and integration, including skill development, self-awareness and maintaining a responsible attitude to time use, drug use and other behaviours which may lead to re-offending.
* Understand the risks associated with restrictive environments on occupational deprivation, alienation and subsequent impact on occupational performance.
* Take a leading role within the clinical team on occupational performance issues, functional skill development and promoting engagement in meaningful occupations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and interpret patient data to inform treatment plans
- Develop and implement occupation-based interventions to promote patient independence
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices
About You:
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist who possesses:
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in the mental health field (preferably)
* Highly developed skills in the mental health sector, including knowledge of consumer needs and forensic mental health principles
* Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and work collaboratively with consumers, families and carers, and multidisciplinary teams
* Solid understanding of occupational performance theories and commitment to improving consumer functioning through assessment and treatment
What You Need:
To be successful in this role, you will require:
* An approved degree in Occupational Therapy recognised for membership of Occupational Therapy Australia – Australian Association of Occupational Therapists
* Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA)
* Knowledge and understanding of the OT Australia – Australian Association of Occupational Therapists Code of Conduct
