RINA is currently recruiting for a Marine Surveyor_Australia to join its office in Sydney within the South Asia Pacific Marine Division.
Mission
The Marine Surveyor serves as an experienced professional within the organization, applying expertise in maritime Rules, Regulations, and industry principles. The Senior Surveyor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and continuous improvement of surveying processes.
Key Accountabilities
1. Professional Specialist: Acts as a professional specialist, applying in-depth knowledge of Rules, Regulations, and industry concepts. Keeps abreast of new developments and recommends changes to surveying processes and safety programs.
2. Inspection and Reporting: Conducts routine surveys on classed ships, offshore installations, or marine assets to ensure compliance with classification and statutory requirements. Prepares technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys.
3. Leadership and Coordination: Plans, schedules, and coordinates various phases of surveying work. Monitors the quality of service, providing guidance to less experienced surveyors.
4. Client Interaction: Engages with clients to solve problems within the area of expertise. Ensures client satisfaction through effective communication and resolution of issues.
5. Training and Development: Provides guidance and training to less experienced surveyors. Contributes to the development and improvement of the skills and knowledge of the surveying team.
6. Quality Assurance: Ensures the maintenance of quality, content, consistency, and continuity of work performed.
7. Ethical Conduct: Upholds the highest ethical standards in all professional interactions, ensuring integrity, transparency, and fairness in survey processes.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Engineering
Professional Certificate
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or relevant field, or CoC class 1 or 2 (Marine Engineer Officer)
* Prior experience as a Surveyor with an IACS member Classification Society is an advantage
* Understanding of RINA's strategic technical positioning in the marine industry
* Proficiency in English, suitable for classification, statutory certification, and related services
* Ability to develop working knowledge of RINA Rules, Guides, regulations, and safety policies
* Knowledge of ship engineering systems, machinery, and shipbuilding practices
Responsibilities include assessing new building and in-service ships, conducting audits, and testing activities, ensuring compliance with rules and regulations, and issuing certificates and reports. Knowledge of related technical interfaces and software is required.
Additional skills include promoting sustainable development, managing emotions, pioneering change, building networks, making effective decisions, understanding client needs, and earning trust.
