About the Opportunity
We're seeking an experienced leader to join our Infrastructure and Facilities Services (IFS) team as the Senior Manager, Design & Space Strategy.
This role will play a pivotal part in shaping the future of campus spaces at the University of Newcastle, inspiring learning, innovation, and community.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead Strategic Briefs and Master Plans: Develop strategic briefs, master plans, precinct plans, and design/occupancy standards to optimize campus spaces.
2. Drive Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders to ensure alignment with the University's vision and goals.
3. Space Management Strategies: Spearhead space management strategies to maximize the use of campus spaces.
4. Project Delivery: Provide assurance on project delivery to align with strategic objectives.
5. Campus Collaboration: Collaborate with Colleges and Divisions across all campuses to optimize space utilization, ensuring environments are effectively aligned with operational needs and strategic goals.
Requirements:
1. Design Expertise: Postgraduate qualifications in architecture, interior design, urban design, or related fields, with extensive experience in strategic space planning within large, complex organizations.
2. Leadership: A proven ability to lead change, manage multiple complex projects, and inspire stakeholders.
3. Analytical Skills: Advanced capabilities in interpreting business needs, developing project briefs, and delivering space analytics and reporting tools.
4. Communication: Exceptional negotiation and influencing skills across diverse client groups.
5. Sector Knowledge: A strong understanding of the Australian higher education sector and sustainable building design solutions.
6. Technical Proficiency: Experience with tools like AutoCAD, Archibus, Syllabus Plus, and Maximo.
