- Start your career with The Salvation Army today!

- We are looking for compassionate people who share our mission and values, if you have the passion and drive to commit yourself to a challenging and rewarding role; we invite you to review our current vacancies.

- ABOUT US

- The Salvation Army is one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities, helping thousands of Australians every year find hope in the midst of all kinds of personal hardship. The Salvation Army offers the opportunity to use your professional skills and expertise to make a real difference in the lives of people who need help most.
Why work with us

In a post Covid environment, the cost of living, and stagnant wages has increased living pressures and caused a decrease in housing affordability. The low vacancy rates in rental properties have contributed to driving rental pricing up. Given the difficulty for people to access private rental, and inability to increase housing stock in respect of new demands on the service, there is an identified need to provide additional support to the homeless entry point.

Why this role matters

We are currently seeking a values-driven Rapid Rehousing Worker to work alongside the consumer to assist in securing private rental and providing support to the entry point in booking and monitoring their supported client's accommodation co-contributions. You will be a point of contact between the consumer and the entry point and provide up to four weeks interim support once client has moved into their property.

The role you could play
- Provide support for clients residing in emergency accommodation funded by the entry point (who meet the requirements of the program) to access private rental
- Provide case management support to clients, tailored to various needs, working intensively to find and secure private rental
- Providing interim response support to clients for four weeks post securing a property and or referring to appropriate services
- Book motel accommodation and liaise with the adult entry point in relation to client co-contribution payments
- Assist in developing and strengthening existing relationships between real estate agents and landlords

This is a full time permanent position based in Geelong. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award, Level 4.

As a Rapid Rehousing Worker at the Salvos you will enjoy:

- (Maybe eligible to) NFP salary packaging ($15,900 tax free) plus meals and entertainment benefits
- Employee Assistance Program - Independent confidential counselling service
- Flexible working conditions
- Financial, retail and lifestyle discounts and benefits
- Discounted health and fitness programs through Fitness Passport
- Up to 8 weeks leave per year through our purchase leave scheme
- Generous Parental Leave offering of 12 weeks
- Up to 5 days paid leave per year to support a TSA program or activity
- An inclusive culture of dedicated, passionate and professional team members
- Positively supporting and impacting the lives of others through your career contribution

What we're looking for
- Experience working in the Homelessness sector and community service diploma qualification
- Understanding of the Victorian Homelessness & Housing service system, including legislative requirements
- Willingness to undergo a criminal history check
- A current VIC Drivers Licence
- Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
