The Medical Instrument Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of infection control by preparing, sterilising, and storing medical instruments to prevent the transmission of infection.
About the Position
This position is responsible for working as part of a large team under routine supervision, following directions from line management and senior staff, and relating well to others to work effectively as a member of a team.
Key Responsibilities and Skills
* Prepare, sterilise, store and thermal disinfect reusable medical and surgical instruments and equipment
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve team goals
* Communicate effectively with supervisors and peers to ensure smooth operations
* Develop strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with colleagues and patients
Selection Criteria
* Completion of a Certificate III in Sterilisation Services at TAFE or equivalent
* Physical ability to perform duties standing for long periods, lifting, pushing and pulling loads
* Excellent communication, written and verbal skills to interact effectively with diverse groups
