We sell international luggage brands, travel accessories, and Australian souvenirs through our Melbourne city retail location, online through our website and through our distribution centre in Tullamarine.
About the Role
We are looking for a highly experienced Internal Auditor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all operational activities achieve industry best practice and adhere to company compliance regulations. You will also be responsible for evaluating the company's financial statements to verify their accuracy and compliance with the accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Evaluate the effectiveness of internal control systems, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and risk management frameworks.
* Monitor and analyse daily operations and financial data to identify risks and opportunities.
* Develop internal control systems to ensure efficient, effective, and compliant operations.
* Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, procedures, and relevant laws and regulations.
* Oversee customs clearance processes to ensure compliance with international trade regulations and Australian federal laws.
* Assess the cost-effectiveness and risk exposure of operational processes, policies, and systems.
* Establish and maintain budgetary and cost-control systems.
* Conduct audits and investigations, preparing clear financial statements and reports for management, shareholders, and statutory bodies.
* Define audit objectives aligned with organisational goals and design audit methodologies, processes, and criteria.
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of internal audit controls and risk management systems.
Skills & Experience Required
* Strong understanding of audit methodologies, risk assessment frameworks, and internal control systems
* Demonstrated ability to evaluate operational processes, policies, and systems for cost effectiveness and risk
* Experience in preparing financial statements and reports for various stakeholders
* Proficiency in designing and implementing audit processes and criteria
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
* Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance
* 5 years experience in customs clearance procedures, including experience in customs audits, with extensive knowledge of customs valuation, tariff classification, and rules of origin
* 6 months' probation period from start date
