Job Overview
We are seeking a seasoned legal professional to join our team as a Senior Legal Officer. In this role, you will work closely with union officers and employees to enforce the rights of members and advance the cause of the CFMEU.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare, manage, and advocate for cases in courts or the Fair Work Commission.
* Provide legal advice and assistance to members, organisers, and executives regarding industrial and employment law matters.
* Research and write submissions on issues affecting members.
* Draft enterprise agreements and participate in bargaining and agreement-making processes.
* Perform general legal practitioner duties.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor degree with an unrestricted current practicing certificate.
* 5+ years of legal/industrial experience, preferably as a Senior Legal Officer.
* Litigation experience as an instructor or advocate.
* Knowledge of right of entry is preferred.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Adobe, and related programs.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* A commitment to union values, including social justice, equity, and collective action.
