Cadet Strategic Planner
Fixed term contract – 2 Year, Full Time opportunity
The role of a Cadet Strategic Planner provides an opportunity to be part of and learn from a diverse team responsible for:
1. Strategic Land Use, Urban Design, Infrastructure Planning and Economic Development
2. Strategic Assessment of Planning Proposals.
3. Review and amendment of Local Planning Instruments and Guidelines.
You will assist the Strategic Outcomes department and undertake training in accordance with an identified training plan.

Essential Criteria
7. Working towards or recently obtained tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Urban and Regional Planning, Science or equivalent discipline.
8. Basic understanding of strategic land use planning and application of relevant statutes standards and codes including but not limited to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and the Local Government Act 1993.
9. Capability to provide input into the revision of policy positions, strategic assessment of planning proposals, drafting of Local Environmental Plan amendments and review and amendment of Development Control Plans in a Local Government context.
10. Ability to attend sites subject to planning proposals and critically analyse local opportunities and constraints whilst understanding and taking into account broader contexts of planning frameworks in assisting in forming an objective opinion in the assessment of proposals.
11. Ability to be resilient to work pressures and demands in a Local Government context.
12. Capability to assist in the preparation and delivery of reports on strategic planning matters to a wide audience.
13. Previous experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite, use of Electronic Document Management Systems and computer based Geographic Information Systems and Customer Request Management Systems.
14. Current NSW minimum Class C Drivers Licence.
