At Moree Plains Shire Council, we are looking for two enthusiastic, friendly, and professional Customer Service Officers to be the first point of contact for our community. If you pride yourself on delivering high-quality service and thrive in a public-facing role, we want to hear from you.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Team Leader Customer Service, you will play a vital role in fostering a culture of service excellence. This position is more than just answering phones; it's about providing responsive, accurate information and essential administrative support to ensure Council meets its commitments to the Shire.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Acting as the primary interface between the community and Council departments, handling face-to-face and switchboard enquiries with professionalism .
* Managing service requests and complaints, ensuring all data is accurately logged into the Customer Request Management (CRM) system.
* Performing cashiering duties, including processing various payment types and completing daily reconciliations.
* Assisting with specialised enquiries, such as rates, water charges, and respectful cemetery bookings.
* Providing administrative support, including document management and raising purchase orders in line with procurement policies.
* Building collaborative relationships across all Council sections to ensure seamless service delivery.

About You
You are a patient and well-spoken communicator who can clearly convey complex information to a diverse range of people. You are self-motivated, able to work independently, and possess the problem-solving skills needed to prioritise tasks in a reactive environment.
To succeed in this role, you'll bring:
* Certificate III in Business Administration, Customer Engagement, or equivalent work experience in a similar service role.
* Proficiency in managing multi-channel enquiries and administrative workflows with high accuracy.
* Strong literacy and numeracy skills with experience in accurate record-keeping.
* Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
* A warm, approachable demeanour and proven negotiation skills.
Desirable Criteria include:
* Previous Local Government experience.
* Experience with Civica Authority software
* Experience with electronic records management systems like Content Manager.
* A current Class C Driver's Licence.
Required Clearances and Checks:
* Pre-employment medical which may include drug and alcohol testing.
* National Criminal History Check
