Coordinator Directorate Support Planning, Development and Environment New Permanent Full Time Role

About this opportunity

Council's Planning, Development & Environment (PDE) Directorate is responsible for the delivery of a range of strategic and operational programs that service the Scenic Rim community. Part of our Directorate's success in delivering these services is attributed to the administrative and business support teams that support our plumbing and building inspectors, our town planners, our development engineers, our environmental planners, our rangers and our economic development and tourism officers.

This position provides high level business and administrative support to the Director and the Directorate Leadership Team.

To complement the Directorate's leadership team, Council is seeking a dynamic leader with a demonstrated track record in developing and guiding teams through process and business improvements. The successful candidate will bring strong operational and financial capability and a sound understanding of contemporary business management principles.

The role is responsible for coordinating business support, administrative, and continuous improvement functions across the Directorate. These functions are critical to enabling the effective delivery of operational objectives, managing resource allocation, ensuring service excellence, and maintaining alignment with Council's values and corporate goals.

The Director also performs the role of Council's Local Recovery Coordinator on the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG). In this position, you will provide high level support in coordinating regular meetings of the internal Local Recovery sub group and liaising with Council's Coordinator Disaster Management (CDM) in relation to recovery and resilience reporting.

Additionally, you'll also …

* Lead and manage the delivery of a customer centric Planning, Development and Environment Business Support Officer team while implementing positive change and meaningful engagement with key stakeholders.
* Coordinate and undertake business support functions within the directorate, to ensure compliance with business/customer service standards, regulatory processes and administrative time frames.
* Supervise the Senior Business Improvement Officer and Team Leaders of the respective Business
* Support Teams that service the Directorate and provide support to the Business Support officers servicing the Regulatory Services, Environment & Biodiversity and Economic Development Tourism teams.
* Partner with relevant stakeholders to ensure Directorate strategies and projects are delivered on time and in line with corporate initiatives and priorities as identified by the Director.
* Lead and encourage the team to identify opportunities to improve collaboration and communication with stakeholders which further develop relationships, encourage increased support for services and ensure a better understanding of complex concepts.
* Assist the Director (as Local Recovery Coordinator) on Council's Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) in coordinating regular meetings of the internal Local Recovery sub-group, and liaising with Council's Coordinator Disaster Management (CDM) with recovery and resilience reporting.
* Assist the Director in regularly reviewing and updating Council's Local Recovery Action Plan (LRAP) to ensure its currency, and liaising with sub group members and other areas of Council in maintaining the register.

About you…

* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (e.g. business management), or equivalent experience in successfully meeting the requirements of the role.
* Demonstrated experience in leadership, overseeing operational tasks and activities, and developing a team's skills, ensuring a team operate in accordance with legislative requirements.
* Proven ability to interpret and develop financial plans and budgets, evaluate budgets, and report on matters as required.
