About Legacy

Legacy is one of Australia's oldest and most trusted charities. In 1923, Legacy made a promise to help veterans' families carry on with their lives after the loss or injury of their loved one. It was a simple promise Legacy keeps today. Providing the same stability, guidance and assistance a partner would normally provide to their family. With a group of dedicated volunteers, known as Legatees, Legacy Brisbane currently supports over 4,045 widow(er)s, 118 people with a disability and 217 Legacy youth.

About the role

An opportunity exists for an experienced Community Service Officer who can go above and beyond when it comes to delivering services to clients and Legatees. You will be confident and experienced in working from a strength based, person centered approach. You will be known for your excellent interpersonal and relationship-management skills. You will be proactive and looking to join an organisation that is dedicated to enhancing lives.

This position is part time (30.4 hours per week) and will require you to work from the Fraser Burnett Legacy office in Maryborough (a minimum 3 days a week) with flexibility to work from home also.

Key Responsibilities

* Conduct client enrolments, intake and assessments, support planning, and reviews

* Provide personal support, including bereavement support, information, advocacy, and referral services

* Coordinate complex client interventions and assist with DVA pension applications for new widows/widowers

* Support and enable Legatees in service delivery through attendance at Contact Group meetings and ongoing communication

* Contribute to event coordination for youth, people with disabilities, and young families throughout the year.

* Participate in Legacy fundraising activities, such as Legacy Week and Anzac Day

* Maintain current knowledge of policies and procedures for service delivery and referrals, and communicate effectively with clients, Legatees, and volunteers

* Keep accurate and compliant client records in line with legal, ethical, and organisational requirements.

* Plan, monitor, and report on activities as required, and undertake additional duties relevant to the role

Skills and Experience

* Minimum of a Diploma in Community Services, Welfare or Youth Work

* Minimum of 2 years previous experience working within the community sector

* High level of interpersonal/ communication skills and proven ability to engage in and build trust and rapport with internal/external stakeholders

* Highly developed organisational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines

* Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team

* Ability to travel to visit clients with use of own private motor vehicle & current QLD driver's license (unrestricted)

Highly Regarded

* Sound knowledge of government services such as DVA, My Aged Care and NDIS

* Current First aid certificate or willing to obtain

* Previous experience with CRM and online case management tools

* Knowledge of trauma informed practice, person centered practice and a strength based approach to service delivery

* Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
