The Department's Land Use Planning Division is recruiting for Planning Administration Manager Level 6 (temporary – 6 months initial) and Planning Administration Co-ordinator Level 5 (temporary – 6 months initial) with the possibility of extension and/or permanent appointment.
The Planning Support teams at the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage provide front-line services to customers lodging planning applications to the Western Australian Planning Commission through Planning Online, involving conformance and workflow of applications and assisting applicants.
On average, the teams receive over 9,000 types of applications each year, including subdivision, development, structure plans and scheme amendments.
The positions are leadership roles responsible for providing high-level administrative services and day-to-day management of a team or teams of administrative officers.This is a pool recruitment process for permanent full-time and fixed-term full-time opportunities.
The pool may be used to fill future similar permanent or fixed-term positions within the Department and across the WA public sector in the next 24 months from the initial date of appointment.
ResponsibilitiesLead and manage an administrative team; provide high-level administrative services; oversee day-to-day operations of one or more administrative officers; contribute to service delivery and efficiency within the Planning Support teams.Qualifications and ExperienceTo be successful for these positions, you will need to demonstrate:Demonstrated ability to lead and manage an administrative team.Experience in a high-level administration environment.Knowledge of current and emerging trends in administration.Ability to deliver customer-focused services in line with stakeholder and community expectations.Understanding of business, financial, and human resource management.Demonstrated behaviours within the leadership context as outlined in job requirements.Experience in a complex administrative environment with the ability to manage and prioritise workload.Analytical and problem-solving capabilities with experience interpreting data, identifying trends and implementing process improvements to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.Knowledge of administrative principles and practice, including the ability to interpret legislation, policy, procedures and provide technical advice to internal and external stakeholders.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to convey complex information, influence decision-making and build effective relationships.Experience in human resource management, finance and other business processes.Demonstrated leadership behaviours appropriate to the Public Sector context.Experience in the land use planning environment is desirable but not essential.More information about leadership behaviours is described in the Public Sector Leadership Expectations, including Leading Others (motivating and enabling others to deliver high-quality work).
