ROLE 
We’re seeking an Electronic Engineer (or Embedded Software/Hardware Engineer) to join our agile, product-focused team. This role is based in Sydney to work remotely, reporting regularly to our Brisbane, QLD headquarters.
This is a unique cross-functional role for someone early in their engineering career (5 years of experience), who thrives at the intersection of software and hardware. You’ll work on the development of next-generation smart IoT play and fitness products, from firmware through to physical integration.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the design team to bring interactive features to life in a compact, real-world product, and provide technical solutions that bridge creative ideas with functional embedded systems.
- Define, Design and Develop system architecture including microcontroller unit selection, power management, sensor integration, and communication protocols.
- Design and prototype analog and digital circuits suitable for compact, battery-powered embedded systems.
- Develop custom PCB layouts optimised for physical form factor, cost, manufacturability, and signal integrity.
- Perform schematic capture, layout, and documentation using tools such as Altium Designer, KiCad, or Eagle.
- Prototype and test physical hardware integrations (e.g., sensors, Bluetooth modules, power systems), ensuring functionality in live, real-world scenarios.
- Build and evaluate hardware prototypes, validate performance, and iterate rapidly based on user feedback.
- Work closely with industrial designers to ensure electronics fit within mechanical constraints.
- Collaborate with software/app developers to align embedded behaviors with external interfaces (e.g., Bluetooth, audio feedback).
- Communicate technical insights clearly across teams, including non-engineering stakeholders.
ABOUT YOU:
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or hold a working visa
- Experience working in R&D; environment with end to end production
- Experience working on interactive devices, consumer electronics, robotics, wearables, or gaming hardware is a strong plus.
- 5 years of relevant engineering experience, ideally in a product-driven environment.
- Proven experience with IoT hardware development, ideally for consumer electronics.
- Practical knowledge of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and end-user sensors.
- Experience with the ESP32 platform (or similar) is highly preferred.
- Fluent in English(both oral and written) and Mandarin – highly desirable 
- Curious, collaborative, and open to leveraging modern tools like AI-assisted programming (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.).
