Kirra Dive has been part of the Gold Coast and Tweed diving community since 1988 — back when air fills were cheap, wetsuits were thick, and adventure meant grabbing your mates and heading offshore with nothing but a tank and a grin.
We are now seeking an experienced Top-Tier Training Diving Instructor to lead the next generation of diving interns and student divers by delivering exceptional training, fostering a culture of safety, and mentoring them toward successfully completing their goals.
Job Description
Training and Instruction:
· Conducting diving courses ranging from entry-level, to professional
· Teaching formal theoretical concepts including dive physics, physiology and environmental issues
· Demonstrating and explaining essential diving skills in both confined water, open water and open-ocean environments
· Training and mentorship for diving interns and Dive Masters aiming for a future career in the diving industry
Safety and Supervision:
· Ensuring strict compliance with safety standards and maritime regulations during all activities
· Providing direct supervision to students during open water dives to prevent accidents
· Conducting comprehensive pre-dive and post-dive briefings
Assessment and Certification:
· Evaluating student performance and providing constructive feedback on skill mastery
· Administering certification programs for accredited organizations, PADI and SSI
Equipment and Logistics:
· Maintaining, inspecting and (where applicable and suitably licensed) maintaining diving equipment
· Managing dive logistics, including cylinder filling (Air, Nitrox) and boat preparation
· Assisting in retail sales and guiding customers in selecting appropriate dive gear
Mandatory Professional Requirements:
· Certification: Current Active Status as an Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) from a recognized agency (e.g., PADI, SSI)
· Experience: A minimum of 12 months active teaching experience, experience and additional certification(s) with diving equipment servicing and boat handling an advantage.
